What kind of person takes pictures of their bellydance scrapbook?......a bored person, that's what kind.
( the first pick is a much thinner me teaching bellyrobics, circa 2001, and the second a small paragraph explaining my dance name, Naaga)
Just thought I'd inspire you non-crafty types to start documenting your dancing in a scrapbook. Now don't throw your hands up in horror.....don't say," but I can't even draw a stick figure"...doesn't matter. In my humble opinion, I think there are two types of scrapbookers...those Martha Stewarty types who have cute little grins, and read Sarah Palin biographies.( I really hate that woman's guts). Then there is MY type of scrapbooker, which is Have-A-Glass-Of-Wine-And-Stick-Stuff-On-A-Page. I have made scrapbooks from my time in radio, for my kids, for both of my weddings ( I am pagan, married to a Christian, we had two weddings)....and all of those scrapbooks were done with dollar store stickers, and have sort of a ,"what the hell" quality.
I don't really have many pictures of me dancing. Either my husband is home with the kids, or my husband (Goddess bless him), gets mad that I make him the official photographer, and videographer. A title that I am going to take away really soon, because he recorded my last solo SIDEWAYS, and cut off the first minute.
He whines that he ,"doesn't get to watch" and has said that he," refuses to do it" anymore. Which is fine. I love the bastard, but after a sideways recording, and the previous performance in which he "took pictures" with the camera on some terrible setting in which all of them came out barely visible, I am happy to relenquish him of the title.
All of that aside, take the pictures that you do have, blurry or not, bad angle of your back fat or not, and make it into something lovely. Something that when you are old and drooling on yourself your great grandkids can look at and say," Grandma, who took this picture, your ass looks terrible.".
Some tips for making a scrapbook:
1. Wait till they are on sale. Most craft stores have several sales a year when the $35 dollar scrapbooks ( HA!) are on sale for about $10.
2. Try the dollar store for stickers and scrapbook paper. Can we say ," cheap"!
3. Chill out. Don't try to be perfect. This is for your enjoyment, and yours alone. Who cares if it doesn't have cute ribbons and little bunnies and those stud things that I refuse to buy.
4. Stock up on glue sticks when school supplies are on sale in August/September. After all the kiddies are off to school, you can get them SUPER cheap. ( and you will blow through those glue sticks, trust me).
